================================================================
0. PURPOSE OF THIS DOCUMENT
================================================================

This is Generation 0000 of a NEW experimental loop.

Do not continue the predecessor loop merely by renumbering its Generation 10 as Generation 11.
The predecessor handoff experiment remains historical evidence and an input to this loop.

This loop investigates how persistent external knowledge can be organized so that independent
AI conversation instances—and eventually potentially different AI models/providers—can locate,
evaluate, verify, preserve, correct, and extend useful knowledge without requiring one indefinitely
growing handoff document.

The working name for the system is kLibrary.
The public domain kLibrary.app has been acquired.

This document is the primary handoff supplied by Bob to the next fresh conversation.

================================================================
1. EXPERIMENTAL ENVIRONMENT — IMPORTANT LIMITATION
================================================================

The predecessor experiment treated each generation as an independent ChatGPT conversation.
That remains useful, but "independent conversation" must NOT be interpreted as demonstrated
informational isolation.

The generations have normally operated in Bob's ChatGPT account/environment. Account-level
context, memory, product behavior, or other context outside the supplied handoff may potentially
influence a receiving instance.

Therefore the demonstrated result should be described conservatively:

Independent conversation instances in Bob's normal ChatGPT environment have repeatedly been
able to reconstruct and continue the experiment from predecessor handoffs without Bob providing
additional explanatory interpretation.

This does NOT yet demonstrate that a completely context-naive AI, a blank ChatGPT account,
another provider/model, or a local model would reconstruct the same state.

Testing such environments is a future experimental possibility, not an accomplished result.

Bob currently remains a system actor and transport mechanism. He supplies one generation file
to a fresh conversation and saves the successor file returned by that conversation.

================================================================
2. PREDECESSOR LOOP — ESTABLISHED INHERITED STATE
================================================================

The predecessor loop is now identified as:

    loops/20260916_handoff/

Its artifacts run from 0000.txt through 0010.txt, with associated audit/additional material for
some generations.

The terminal artifact, 0010.txt, describes an AI-to-AI handoff experiment whose central purpose
was to test whether independent ChatGPT conversations could preserve and cumulatively improve
useful working state through persistent external communication without modification of model
weights.

Important inherited principles include:

1. Persistent external information, rather than model-weight modification, supplies continuity.
2. A receiver should critically evaluate inherited state rather than assume it is correct.
3. Useful state may be corrected, compressed, or deleted.
4. Repeated transmission of a claim does not strengthen its evidence.
5. Evidence provenance matters.
6. Primary reconstruction should be distinguished from later archive-assisted verification.
7. Verifying what an archived document says does not necessarily verify the truth of claims
   contained in that document.
8. Reconstruction quality and successor-document quality are separate properties.
9. Compression is useful, but not when it destroys reliable reconstruction.
10. Automation of transport was intentionally postponed during the manual experiment.

The predecessor loop also left unresolved research problems, including:

- long-term reliability and semantic drift;
- detecting inherited errors when original evidence is unavailable;
- minimum sufficient handoff size;
- what information, if any, requires verbatim preservation;
- how much historical information remains useful;
- when protocol complexity becomes counterproductive;
- the value, cost, contamination risk, and retrieval robustness of archive auditing;
- eventual automation of transport.

These remain research questions. They are not automatically requirements for kLibrary.

3. IMPLEMENTED REALITY AT CREATION OF GENERATION 0000
================================================================

The following items are reported by Bob as actually implemented in STAGING at the time this
document is created. They must not be confused with merely proposed architecture.

Staging root:

    C:\!WebpageStaging\kLibrary.app\

Relevant implemented structure reported by Bob:

    kLibrary.app\
        !archive\
        experiments\
        loops\
            20260916_handoff\
                0000.txt
                ...
                0010.txt
            20260917_klibrary_design\
        observations\
        project\
        index.html

The predecessor generation artifacts have been moved in staging into:

    loops\20260916_handoff\

The new loop directory has been created in staging as:

    loops\20260917_klibrary_design\

At the time Generation 0000 is authored, Bob has explicitly stated that these recent staging
changes have NOT yet been migrated to the public production site.

The public domain:

    https://klibrary.app/

exists and has previously been reachable over HTTPS, but a receiving generation must not infer
that the current production filesystem matches the staging structure described above.

Bob also maintains a staging-only operational archive directory named !archive. Its purpose is
rollback/safety for superseded website files; it should not automatically be interpreted as
kLibrary's intellectual/provenance archive.

================================================================
4. CURRENT WORKING CONCEPT — NOT YET IMPLEMENTED ARCHITECTURE
================================================================

The following ideas emerged from discussion but are TENTATIVE unless explicitly promoted to
implemented state later.

A. kLibrary

A persistent knowledge environment that exists independently of any one transient AI conversation.
A useful conceptual inversion is:

    The repository may be the persistent participant;
    AI instances are transient researchers that visit it.

The repository itself need not be intelligent.

B. kBook

Working term for a persistent knowledge object worth preserving and making discoverable.

A kBook might eventually contain an authoritative abstract, provenance, status, subjects/facets,
references, and relations to other kBooks. No final kBook format or schema has been adopted.

C. kIndex

Working term for mechanisms that let an unfamiliar researcher locate relevant knowledge without
reading the entire library.

No final kIndex implementation has been adopted.

D. Loop

A sequence of independent AI conversation instances working on a defined problem or objective.

Generation numbers are LOCAL to a loop rather than global to kLibrary.

Examples currently implemented/planned in staging:

    loops/20260916_handoff/
    loops/20260917_klibrary_design/

E. Generation

One transient research/conversation instance within a loop.

A generation is NOT automatically a kBook. Research process and accumulated knowledge should
remain distinguishable.

F. External sources

External resources may support, contradict, or expand kLibrary knowledge, but external material
must not masquerade as kLibrary-controlled knowledge. Provenance and the internal/external
distinction are expected to matter. Exact mechanisms remain undecided.

================================================================
5. WORKING DESIGN PRINCIPLES
================================================================

These are current design principles, not immutable laws.

1. ONE STEP AT A TIME.

When a structural change is accepted as something that should actually be done, prefer making
and verifying that change before building additional design assumptions on top of it.

This is intended to prevent a known failure mode: a proposed change can later be remembered as
though it had actually been implemented.

Useful implementation-state vocabulary:

    PROPOSED -> IMPLEMENTED -> VERIFIED

Do not silently promote PROPOSED items to IMPLEMENTED.

2. REALITY OVERRIDES REMEMBERED PLANS.

When Bob supplies a directory listing, file, or other direct description of current implementation,
treat that as stronger evidence of system state than remembered discussions of intended changes.

3. KEEP THE ARCHITECTURE ELASTIC.

Do not design the million-kBook solution before kBook #1 exists.

Prefer a few necessary invariants and allow experience to reveal additional structure.

4. PRESERVE IDENTITY SEPARATELY FROM LOCATION WHEN NEEDED.

A tentative idea is that future kBooks may receive stable identifiers independent of filenames or
paths. No identifier scheme has yet been implemented.

5. MAKE KNOWLEDGE DISCOVERABLE WITHOUT FORCING EXHAUSTIVE READING.

A future unfamiliar researcher should ideally be able to orient itself, inspect indexes/abstracts,
and retrieve only the knowledge relevant to its task.

6. DISTINGUISH PROCESS FROM KNOWLEDGE.

Loops record research activity.
kBooks are intended to preserve useful accumulated knowledge.
Do not assume every research artifact deserves promotion into persistent library knowledge.

================================================================
6. GENERATION FILE AND WEB INDEX CONVENTION
================================================================

The intended manual loop procedure is:

    Bob starts a fresh independent ChatGPT conversation.
        ->
    Bob supplies NNNN.txt.
        ->
    The receiving instance reconstructs and critically evaluates the project.
        ->
    It performs the assigned work.
        ->
    It produces a complete successor NNNN+1.txt.
        ->
    Bob saves that file in the loop directory.
        ->
    Bob starts another fresh conversation with the successor.

For this loop:

    0000.txt
    0000_index.html
    0001.txt
    0001_index.html
    ...

The .txt file is the authoritative generation handoff.

The corresponding _index.html is a web retrieval/navigation aid associated with that generation.
It is NOT a second authoritative handoff.

The consistent pairing is being used even if a particular generation does not need its own index
during normal operation. This preserves a predictable retrieval convention and supports later
archive/provenance checking.

================================================================
7. RECONSTRUCTION AND LOOKBACK PROCEDURE
================================================================

The receiving generation should first reconstruct this project from the supplied generation
handoff without relying on historical website material.

After recording its primary reconstruction, it MAY look backward at available kLibrary material
to test inherited claims, provenance, semantic preservation, and actual implementation state.

Backward inspection is not merely intended to confirm that the website contains the same file Bob
supplied. More useful questions include:

- Did the predecessor accurately characterize earlier experimental results?
- Did a proposed design accidentally become represented as implemented?
- Does publicly accessible structure agree with claims about implementation?
- Were important qualifications or unresolved questions lost?
- Do cited predecessor artifacts actually contain what the current handoff says they contain?

Keep these evidence levels distinct:

DIRECT CURRENT OBSERVATION
What the current generation can itself observe.

ARCHIVE/RESOURCE-VERIFIED DOCUMENT CONTENT
What the current generation verifies that a historical or external resource actually says.

INHERITED REPORT
What a predecessor reports but the current generation has not independently verified.

ASSUMPTION
Something provisionally accepted without demonstration.

CONCLUSION
An interpretation derived from evidence.

PROPOSED
A design or experiment not yet implemented.

IMPLEMENTED
Reported or observed as put into operation, but not necessarily independently verified by the
current generation.

VERIFIED
Implementation or content independently checked using an appropriate available source.

UNRESOLVED
An unanswered question.

Repeated copying does not upgrade evidence.

================================================================
8. TASK FOR GENERATION 0001
================================================================

Using this document as the primary handoff:

1. Reconstruct the purpose of the new kLibrary design loop without requiring Bob to explain it.

2. Explicitly distinguish:
   - inherited results from the predecessor loop;
   - currently implemented staging reality;
   - tentative kLibrary architecture;
   - unresolved questions.

3. Critically evaluate whether the transition from a single handoff chain to multiple named loops
   is coherent and useful.

4. Critically evaluate the working concepts kLibrary, kBook, kIndex, Loop, and Generation.
   Correct, simplify, or reject them where justified.

5. Examine whether the proposed separation between transient research process (loops) and
   persistent accumulated knowledge (kBooks) is useful.

6. Consider how an unfamiliar AI researcher could eventually arrive at kLibrary.app, orient
   itself, locate relevant knowledge, evaluate provenance, and avoid reading everything.

7. Preserve the predecessor loop's unresolved questions where they remain useful, but do not let
   the old experiment dictate unnecessary architecture.

8. Watch specifically for confusion between PROPOSED, IMPLEMENTED, and VERIFIED state.

9. Keep the design small enough to implement incrementally. Do not create elaborate architecture
   merely because it might someday be useful.

10. Produce a COMPLETE self-contained successor:

    kLibrary DESIGN LOOP — GENERATION 0001

The successor must be sufficient for Bob to place unchanged into another fresh conversation.

================================================================
9. SUCCESS CRITERION
================================================================

Generation 0001 succeeds if it can:

- reconstruct why this new loop exists;
- understand what Phase I demonstrated and what it did not demonstrate;
- recognize the account-context limitation on claims of conversational independence;
- distinguish actual staging changes from proposed kLibrary architecture;
- critically improve the design rather than merely echo it;
- preserve useful provenance and unresolved questions without uncontrolled growth;
- produce a self-contained 0001.txt suitable for the next fresh conversation.

The larger long-term test remains open:

Can persistent external knowledge support useful continuity among transient AI researchers,
potentially including researchers from different accounts, providers, models, or local systems?

That is a research objective, not an established result.
